Restaurant was very busy, so if you are in hurry it may not be the best place to go, but actually in our case it really was not an issue and may have actually improved the experience. The food was definitely worth waiting for and there seemed to genuine concern over dealing with specific requirements. It was reasonably priced but certainly not pub grub.

The Hanging Gate

The staff were excellent. We were shown 2 menus. One of them was festive. My husband ordered a starter and main from the festive menu. Both were sold out Another meal choice I ordered was also sold out but we were not told this before the menu was given to us. One of our friends with gluten-free, and this menu was shown on a handheld iPad which was confusing to use and frustrating. The restaurant is beautiful and decorated really nice for Christmas.

Jam our server made us immediately feel welcome &amp; relaxed. Very attentive. So much food choices but we were there for traditional sunday lunch &amp; it didn&rsquo;t disappoint. Fresh food, real fires &amp; friendly staff
